Celebrate the Small Stuff! The Secret to Your Home Business Goals!

Get your blog up, write new posts every week, make friends on Facebook, get a Facebook fan page, find Twitter followers, make sure you are creating videos for YouTube, create accounts on all the social networking sites!!  AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!  Sound familiar?

It is so easy to get caught up in doing all the necessary things to be successful with your online marketing, that you may soon find yourself a bit overwhelmed.  Building meaningful relationships and helping people is reward enough most of the time, but at some point we should be asking ourselves – “What are we working towards and how will we know when we get there?” Are we starting to peel away the layers of success we are all looking for?   Have we stopped along the way to acknowledge our accomplishments?

You may be thinking to yourself – What accomplishments? What success?  I have only been doing this for a few months or weeks!  You know what? – That is exactly the problem. You are NOT giving yourself enough credit! If you really stop for a minute and look at all the things you have done so far – you should be blown away!   I mean getting a blog up is a huge deal in itself!   Maybe you just found your 100th friend on Facebook or tweeted to your 1000th follower on Twitter.  I know you may be thinking this is all “small stuff” and who cares.  The truth is that you should care because all this “small stuff” will eventually lead you to reaching your big goals and dreams, no matter how insignificant you think they are at this moment.

Here’s something else to think about.  Have you allowed yourself to really celebrate any of this small stuff along your journey?  No? – Then please give yourself a break and take time to pat yourself on the back for what you have achieved so far.   Don’t make the mistake and letting yourself get burned out by working like a crazy person and not taking the time to reflect on your accomplishments.

I am guilty of this more than anyone.  I honestly work at this business more hours of the day than any other job I have ever had.  Even though I do enjoy it immensely, it sometimes feels like I am running on a treadmill that is going nowhere.  Well that stops now!  This weekend I did take a look around and compared my recent results to the first day I was introduced to this wonderful online marketing world.  I kind of surprised myself and I think you will find the same if you just a take a minute to soak it all in.

So now it is your turn!  Give yourself some credit and realize you are already a success at some level!  I can’t wait to see where we all are in a month, or a year.  The important thing is to keep moving forward and celebrate the all “small stuff” along the way.

What success, no matter how small, have you found?  Please feel free to share it with all of us below!   I look forward to celebrating with you

Yours in Success,

  1. You go girl!!!
Celebrate all your victories whether big or small – they all count.

This brings up so many good points that we tend to pass over without realizing it IS a big thing to accomplish all the little tasks along the way.

Thanks for reminding me of this Glyna. I lose sight of this sometimes too. 😉

  2. I believe in The Slight Edge – where it doesn’t seem to make a difference in the act of doing “it” – but compounded by time “it” makes all the difference in the world! So it’s VERY important to celebrate ALL achievements!

Keep up the great work and have a DYNAMITE Night!

  3. I can relate to this so much Glyna! In our instant gratification society it can be so easy to overlook the significant progress that we make on a daily basis. At the end of the day, The journey and who we become along the way is more rewarding then the destination itself. Thanks for an important reminder.

    Best,

  4. Thanks for reminding me I’m a success Glyna! Come to think of it, I didn’t know what a Re-tweet was 2 months ago, much less how to do it. It really is amazing.

As for celebrating our success, my wife (who also does this business with her own blog and following) and I recently got burned out on too many consecutive hours of non-stop non-stop non-stop. You know what I mean.

In the middle of the day we stopped… went out for lunch… and looked out the window while we were eating. We were pretty amazed to be looking at a world that had 3… yes, 3 dimensions! What a treat.

  7. Glyna,
Timing is everything in life and the time was exactly right for me to read this post today! Like you, I have only been up and running online for a short while (2 months, approximately) and lately I have been asking myself the exact questions you posted here. Celebrating the small wins every single day is EXACTLY what we all need to do. After all, the small wins add up over time to some really big wins! You are an inspiration to me and I genuinely thank you for writing such an important message to all of us.

  8. Great advice here. Home based businesses take hard work.It is a business like any other you just have a shorter commute and save on gas. 🙂 I tell people to give it their best for a year before they can say it isn’t working. Many brick and mortar businesses are not making money for 2 years. It alls depends on your training and belief system as well as if you are working in a company that matches your passion. Thanks Glyna!

  11. Yes yes! On the journey to success, we will experience many challenges. To help us feel successful, we must make sure we celebrate the small successes along the way to long term success.

  12. THis is so important isn’t it Eddie? The world of network marketing is so hard sometimes that we need to take time to celebrate the small things while we are working toward our big breakthroughs:) Thanks
