Aahh - you are so kind Steve! I used to hate getting up in front of people but I found if I practiced and got my "elevator speech" down it made things so much easier:) Thanks

Glynna, I'm blown away by how well you summarized and presented the elevator speech. I was in a mastermind group: we spent some time going over our speeches, and I still don't feel entirely comfortable with mine. I'm bookmarking this article, sharing it, and reviewing it often :)

Hey Glyna,

I think one of the most important parts of your elevator pitch is having the right mindset. A lot of new people still have the desperation in their voice because they don't want their prospect to get away - that could be the one! A better, more rewarding mindset to have is to envision themselves already in the money and to not care about the reaction they receive from the pitch. Just practice on people and count the Nos!

Hi Glyna,

Appreciate the reminder that I need to shape up my elevator speech. Even talking with friends can sometimes require a short-and-sweet synopsis of what I do, since my friends don't know anything about online marketing! I usually feel like I have to explain, but having a very short speech up front would at least give them the broad picture.

You are right Richard! It is hard to send them something - hmm like say a card - haha if you don't get an address. Thanks

In some ways, it is probably more important to get THEIR business card. My pet peeve is a biz card without a mailing address. Tough to send them a card (wink). In fact, asking for THEIR card will likely cause them to reciprocate and ask for your card. So much better if they ask for your card than if you just ... give it to them.

Preparation can make all the difference! It really is a small world - you never know who you might come in contact with:) Thanks

You are right Val about the business cards. They need to stand out and I think it is a good idea to have your picture on them if you can. Thanks

It is tough to convey sometimes but not if you are prepared! My ideal client changes depending on what crowd I am talking to and what I think they would be able to help with:) Thanks Joe!
